4-bolt main. Unfortunately it’s completely fucked. Needs rod bearings, main bearings, a crankshaft, and cam bearings. So that’s a couple hundred dollars and my buddy can’t let me keep the engine in his garage that long so it’s a moot point anyhow. Going to contact the guy I bought it from and see if he’ll be nice. Certainly didn’t seem like he’d be hurting for the $300 I spent on this.

Damn, I gave away a SBC that was in better shape than that. That one had bad main bearings but at least the crank was fine.

It’s already been machined and it has grooves in the bearing surfaces that can’t be machined out.

how much has it been cut already? should be stamped on the crank somewhere. those can go easily .030 .030 and be fine. besides, its a $300 engine, bearings, and rings should be planned on from the get go......

did you not pull the pan before you bought it?

Nah, it wasn’t in a position to do that.

It’s been cut .020 already and the gouges are too deep for another .010 to take them out.

How was it sold to you? As a functional short block?

As a low-mileage crate engine (it isn’t, but it has crate heads) that just needs put back together and would be ready to go.

Buick 430 is the only logical solution to Jaguar luxury power plant.

You misread the add: it was the
crate
that had low mileage.

No, but it’s a fun thought.
